Wild About Reading

The Charles A. Reinhard Early Childhood Center in Bellmore kicked off its monthlong PTA-sponsored Parents as Reading Partners program with a schoolwide assembly on April 4. Entertaining the children and getting them excited for the PARP program was Jester Jim with his music, juggling and comedy act.

This year’s PARP theme, “Wild About Reading,” encourages parents and guardians to read with their children for at least 15 minutes each day, with a schoolwide goal of 100,000 minutes read during the program. The PTA has organized activities throughout the month to keep the children excited about reading, including in-class mystery readers, a visit from children’s book author Brian Heinz and a book fair.
