Toys for Tots

Continuing their mission of giving back to the local community, students and staff at Bellmore’s Winthrop Avenue School collected hundreds of new and unwrapped toys and games throughout December. After the collection, students donated the items to the United States Marines Toys for Tots program. According to the Toys for Tots website, “The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens.”

“By participating in programs such as Toys for Tots, our students learn that there are people less fortunate and they need to be a part in helping the community,” said Principal Sally Curto. “Something as small as a toy can go a long way for a family that may not be able to afford one themselves.”
