In recognition of the 50th anniversary of the civil rights movement, the second-grade students at Bellmore’s Charles A. Reinhard Early Childhood Center dedicated their winter choral concert to world peace. Directed by music teacher Randi Andersen, the students sang Michael Jackson’s “Heal the World” and the civil rights anthem “We Shall Overcome.” The important message continued as they sang the “Sesame Street” tune “We All Sing with the Same Voice,” which highlights individuals’ differences while noting “we all sing with the same voice and we sing in harmony.”

In addition to this celebration, the students commemorated the 50th anniversary of Beatlemania and The Beatles’ appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show. With students dressed as John, Paul, George and Ringo, the chorus sang two Beatles songs, “All You Need Is Love” and “I Want to Hold Your Hand.” To enjoy highlights from the concert, please watch this edition of Bellmore TV!
