Winthrop Principal Participates in PARP Challenge

To celebrate the end of their three-week participation in Parents as Reading Partners (PARP), the students at Winthrop Avenue School in Bellmore were treated to a special surprise. At the beginning of PARP, Winthrop Principal Sally Curto promised the students that if one hundred percent of them participated she’d take part in a principal’s challenge. On Friday, February 18, Ms. Curto took to the gymnasium to climb the vertical cargo net in front of students and staff. During her challenge, Ms. Curto also congratulated the top two classes with the highest reading minutes in each grade – Ms. Lowy’s third-grade class and Ms. Baeza’s fourth-grade class – as well as the top three highest readers in each grade level.
