Every two months, teachers in the Bellmore School District emphasize a particular character education trait in their lessons. For the months of May and June, that trait was teamwork. During those two months, the students learned that together, they can make a difference. With that in mind, the second-grade students in Christopher Merz’s and Karen Reilly’s classes teamed up to play a friendly match of kickball to help raise money for the American Red Cross. The two classes were able to donate more than $130 to help families in Japan affected by the tsunami.
