A fit and active lifestyle was on the minds of Shore Road students during the school’s annual Health and Safety/Wellness Week.

On Mileage Monday, the students and staff accessorized with pedometers and tried to collectively take 3.4 million steps during the weeklong period. Members of John F. Kennedy High School’s Athletes Helping Athletes also visited classrooms to talk about the importance of sports and finding balance between being a high school student and athlete. There were additional workouts during physical education classes, and water bottles and fruit were handed out during the week.

Principal Patrice Matthews said, “The week’s activities gave students the tools to lead a healthy and safe lifestyle and encouraged everyone to become more active.”
