During the district’s June 14 Board of Education meeting, students enrolled at Reinhard, Winthrop Avenue and Shore Road were recognized for achievement in school service, participation in the Eugene Reichenthal Recorder Festival, and for winning their school’s spelling bee.

“We are always proud of our students who have worked very hard during the school year,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Joseph Famularo said. “The district feels it is important to promote the character education program and service learning, and we applaud family members for their help in achieving these goals.”

In addition to the 70 Student Advisory Council reporters and council leaders, 17 students were recognized for their recorder skills, under the direction of music teacher Erica Davis. In addition, Winthrop Avenue students Kathryn Gabberty and Patrick Ingegno and Shore Road students Emily Yucht and Jake Aurigema were recognized as their schools’ top spellers.
