To get into the spirit of Cinco de Mayo, the students at Charles A. Reinhard Early Childhood Center in Bellmore celebrated the Mexican holiday by creating Mexican flags, playing math BINGO in Spanish, and reading a short story about the life of a Mexican boy their age. They also enjoyed snacking on chips and salsa. As a special project for the first graders, the students created homemade serapes that they constructed out of paper bags in art classes and wore on the day of their celebration. Foreign language instructor Lisa Goldberg, who teaches the Reinhard students Spanish twice a week for thirty minutes, coordinated the celebration.
