Recognizing Volunteerism

Prior to the start of the Dec. 18 Bellmore Board of Education meeting, students from Winthrop Avenue School participated in a distance learning videoconference with the Alaska Sealife Center. The conference, financed through BOCES, provided the Board and audience a demonstration of some of the opportunities afforded to all Bellmore students.

"Tonight is an example – a celebration of what our kids do with their teachers, thanks to the continued support of our Board of Education, community and parents," said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Joseph S. Famularo.

The videoconference was organized by technology assistant Carol Monaco as part of the district's celebration of Board of Education Recognition Month. In appreciation of the Board’s time and dedication to the children of Bellmore, the PTA donated manuals in its name to each school for further enhancement of distance learning opportunities.
