Shore Road sixth-graders welcomed author and illustrator Joyce Raimondo’s arts-in-education program “Express Yourself ” in recognition of National Bullying Prevention Month. According to Ms. Raimondo’s website, the program “creates empathy, respect and a sense of community by showing students how to embrace diversity of ideas in art and the opinions of their classmates.” Following a discussion on a variety of famous art pieces, including Edvard Munch’s “The Scream,” the students worked in groups of six to create posters that promote positive character attributes such as respect and kindness. The murals created during the program are on display around the building.
