After more than five weeks of preparation, 14 of the top spellers from Shore Road put their best efforts forward during the annual sixth-grade spelling bee on April 1.

Following numerous rounds and nearly an hour of competition, William Molloy was named champion after he correctly spelled “mediocre.” Ryan Draude came in second place, and Christina Weber placed third. Both William and Ryan received Barnes & Noble gift cards for their exceptional accomplishments.

Kelly Popielaski and Carolyn Acevedo moderated the event, and Lurie DiMaina, Regina Garten and Michelle Stein served as judges.
