Bellmore students disembarked from the iconic yellow buses toting backpacks and supplies, prepared and excited to start the 2018-2019 school year on Sept. 4. Charles A. Reinhard Early Childhood Center, Winthrop Avenue School and Shore Road School students received a warm welcome from board of education trustees, administrators and faculty as they walked single-file to their classrooms. The students became acquainted with former classmates and made new friends right before the immediate start of instruction.

At Reinhard, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Joseph A. Famularo and Principal Patricia Castine welcomed the district’s youngest students at the bus circle. Dr. Famularo said he was not only impressed with the district’s smooth opening, but the way in which the teachers and students were prepared to begin instruction. He also said the district will continue its emphasis on promoting core values and leadership principals, which are incorporated into its nationally recognized Bellmore Stars Character Development Program.

“I look forward to continuing to build upon our unique ‘Community of Learners’ and providing opportunities for our students to ‘Lead and Learn’ as they become productive global citizens,” Dr. Famularo said.
