Excitement filled the air as Winthrop Avenue students and teachers gathered in the gymnasium for the annual Principal’s Challenge, a physical challenge undertaken by Principal Sally Curto as a reward to the student body for having met or exceeded their reading goal during Parents as Reading Partners Week. Physical education teacher John Wolkiewicz rallied the students to cheer loudly for Ms. Curto, who donned her tennis shoes and climbed to the top of the cargo net.

Upon mastering this challenge, Ms. Curto congratulated the students on having read an additional 30,000 minutes during PARP Week. She also reminded them that sometimes goals can be difficult to meet, but that it is important to believe in oneself. “When something gets hard to do, remember to say that you can do it,” she said.
