Mother Nature may have delayed their celebration, but she couldn’t dampen the spirit of the Charles A. Reinhard Early Childhood Center Rising Stars as they marked the 100th day of school.

Gathered together in the auditorium, kindergarten and first-grade students engaged in a variety of counting activities and sang songs to kick-start the daylong celebration. On their trip to the auditorium, the students participated in a scavenger hunt for sight words and counted 100 balloons decorating the hallway. While the younger students were in the auditorium, second-graders were given a mission bag with the task of showing all the various mathematical ways one can get to 100.

Throughout the day, students could be seen wearing homemade shirts that featured 100 items, while others dressed as how they thought they would look at the age of 100. Additionally, the kindergarten and first-grade students wore a special “100 day” hat that they had personalized with crayons and markers.

In their classrooms, students participated in mathematical counting exercises, arts and crafts projects, writing assignments and reading activities.
