For the past several weeks, Winthrop Avenue students gathered during their recess time to perfect their roles and singing skills for the biannual character drama. Directed by Marjorie Falabella, with musical direction by Erica Davis and choreography by Mallory Cogen , the students acted out two flawless performances for parents and peers of “CharACTer Matters II,” which drove home the district’s important core values through a fairy tale theme.

Ms. Falabella explained that these dramatic performances focus on the district’s development of core values while simultaneously assisting in the students’ development of independence and self-confidence. It also developed discipline and focus, as the student-actors practiced three times a week for the production.
