To get into the spirit of Cinco de Mayo, the students at Charles A. Reinhard Early Childhood Center in Bellmore celebrated the Mexican holiday by creating Mexican flags, playing math BINGO in Spanish, reading a short story about the life of a Mexican boy their age, and snacking on chips and salsa, all while wearing homemade serapes that they constructed out of paper bags in their art classes. Foreign language teacher Lisa Goldberg, who teaches the Reinhard students Spanish twice a week for thirty minutes, coordinated the celebration and sang “La Beandera Mexicana” (“The Mexican Flag”) with the students.
