Fourth-graders at Winthrop took a virtual tour through the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown on May 4.

Via a live videoconference led by Director of Multimedia Bruce Brodersen, students learned how baseball has evolved and saw exhibits on Babe Ruth, Jackie Robinson and Lou Gehrig, who they’ve been studying in class. Gehrig, also known as the Iron Horse, is being spotlighted as part the fourth-grade unit on character education, under which the students also performed a mini-play that honored Gehrig’s life.

In addition, the students participated in a question-and-answer dialogue with Brodersen during their virtual trip through the past.
