In recognition of May as Better Hearing and Speech Month, Winthrop speech-language pathologists Darleen Foley and Farah Augustover celebrated with an array of informative activities.

To bring awareness to the broader school community, they hung a large bulletin board in the school’s front lobby that displayed information about hearing, speech and language. Additional facts were read during the daily morning announcements. All classroom teachers received informational packets on speech-language pathologists, how to keep a healthy voice while teaching, and how to foster better listening, speech and language skills in the classroom.

In addition, a letter to parents was sent home with a summary of BHSM, as well as voluntary activities for students to complete. Those students who take speech therapy reflected on their experiences this past school year and received stickers celebrating BHSM.
