Winthrop Avenue students have set a goal to collectively read 600 books during the PTA-sponsored Pick A Reading Partner event, being held through Oct. 28. This year’s theme is “Exploring Reading Through Books,” and Principal Sally Curto has encouraged the third- and fourth-graders to read an extra 15 minutes each evening.
Curto noted that students are required to submit their book titles on the district’s new Chromebooks through a Google Classroom survey. “This eliminates the collection of paper strips and connects the district’s technology program to the PARP program,” she said.
At the annual kickoff event, Brian Richards’ educational show, titled “The Magic of Reading,” entertained with magic, comedy, storytelling, and a lot of excitement and motivation to read.
