Gingerbread Teamwork

Gingerbread Teamwork thumbnail146545

The aroma of candy and frosting wafted through the Reinhard’s cafeteria as prekindergarten students and their caregivers teamed up to make gingerbread houses to celebrate the impending holidays.

Teacher Alison Burke told the excited students, “The number one ingredient to making a gingerbread house is your imagination.”

The students have been reading gingerbread stories in their classrooms, comparing and contrasting the plot and characters of each book. They also participated in a tactile activity making Play-Doh gingerbread men and women. The gingerbread house activity was an opportunity to work as a team with parents and caregivers and to use their artistic talents and imagination. Everyone agreed, however, that the activity created memories that will last a lifetime.
