The Board of Education and Central Administration announced the tenure of Assistant Superintendent for Business and Technology Robin Lufrano, effective Jan. 23, during the Jan. 19 public meeting. Receiving tenure marks one of the most important milestones in an administrator’s educational career.

During the meeting, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Joseph Famularo explained that Mrs. Lufrano has displayed commitment and dedication as she has navigated the business aspects of the District. He explained that her responsibilities have included the oversight of the District’s day-to-day operations, the school lunch program, school and District plans, educational programs and operational procedures for dealing with student, staff, school and community safety issues. Mrs. Lufrano has also been the lead on security measures and the cleaning and sanitizing procedures related to COVID-19.

Mrs. Lufrano also oversees and evaluates the District’s Information Technology Systems and was instrumental in ensuring students and staff had the necessary equipment for remote learning. She also provided ongoing support and necessary infrastructure improvements during these unprecedented times.

“Mrs. Lufrano continually addresses financial accountability by engaging in an on-going analysis of District spending to find all possible ways to contain and/or reduce costs in order to best represent the financial interests of taxpayers while still providing quality educational experiences for students,” Dr. Famularo stated. “Mrs. Lufrano is an invaluable member of our administrative team in large part due to her extensive knowledge and principled approach. As an administrator, she is skillful, professional and a leader, not only within the Business Office, but districtwide by personifying the core values of the Bellmore Schools Community of Leaders and Learners.”
