Jay Lupetin, an art teacher at Shore Road School and Winthrop Avenue School in Bellmore, was named a 2010-2011 Dowling College/News12 Long Island Educator of the Month. Dowling College representative Dr. Clyde Paine visited Shore Road where Mr. Lupetin’s colleagues and administrators gathered to honor the achievement of one of their finest teachers.

The Educator of the Month program praises the outstanding dedication of many Long Island teachers. Mr. Lupetin’s accomplishments place him in a most distinguished group of excellent educators who have received this award. Mr. Lupetin began his career in Bellmore in 1975. He holds a Bachelor’s in Art Education from Hofstra University and a Master’s in Physical Education from Adelphi University. He and his wife, Tricia, reside in Wantagh with their two children, J.P. and Daria.

“Jay Lupetin has been an extraordinary educator who has instilled values and thirst for knowledge in the thousands of students whose lives he has impacted over the past thirty-five years,” said Christine Augusto, Principal of Shore Road School. “He has consistently demonstrated a high level of professionalism and expertise in his field as well as sound instructional practices, a strong work ethic, and a dedicated commitment to his students.”
