First-graders at Reinhard celebrated the Mexican holiday of Cinco de Mayo in a multitude of ways on May 5 and 6.
Rotating through four stations, the students worked on their Spanish language skills by playing Bingo, created Mexican flags, read a short story about the life of a Mexican boy and compared his life to theirs, and enjoyed chips and salsa.
In preparation for the event, the students constructed serapes in their art classes using paper bags and colorful paint. Reinhard Spanish teacher Lisa Goldberg organized the annual event .
