Excitement was palpable as the District’s faculty and staff gathered in the Charles A. Reinhard Early Childhood Center auditorium on Aug. 28 for Superintendent’s Conference Day. In addition to introducing new staff and thanking the maintenance team for preparing the schools to pristine condition, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Joseph Famularo set the tone and theme for the 2019-2020 school year.

In a rhetorical question, Dr. Famularo asked the faculty how the district has control over their actions and reactions to the outward world. He noted that doing what is best for the district’s students can be accomplished only if everyone has a common vision, mission, core values and leadership principals.

“We must continually be reminded and make sure our decisions and actions are aligned to them,” he said. “Bellmore is a very unique and outstanding district for your leadership and learning where everyone is on the same page.”

Board of Education President Janet Goller noted that the district is appreciative of the faculty’s efforts to educate the community’s children, while Bellmore Faculty Administration representative Christopher Merz  spoke about relationships being crucial in educating children.

“Let’s focus on our bonds together and our interconnections to build a strong community,” he said.

Core BTS, Inc. Regional Vice President Matthew M. Pomara spoke to the faculty about the challenges districts are facing with recent cybersecurity threats. He encouraged the staff to be diligent and informed before answering email.

After the assembly, the teachers and administrators attended individual school meetings and continued preparing their classrooms for opening day on Sept. 3.
