Prior to the winter break, students at Bellmore’s Winthrop Avenue School and the Charles A. Reinhard Early Childhood Center entertained their families, faculty and peers during concerts to celebrate the impending holiday season.

Under the direction of Maria Martucci, Winthrop Avenue School third graders sang their favorite holiday tunes including “Bring on the Snow,” “Santa Claus Rocks,” “Hanukkah-Shalom,” “There is Peace,” and “Frosty the Snowman.” At the conclusion of the program and under the baton of Erica Glikos, third grade orchestra and recorder club students took the stage to play “Jingle Bells,” asking those in the audience to sing along.

Under the direction of Randi Andersen and with expert choreography by Mallory Aronoff, individual first grade classes sang a special holiday tune. Ms. Andersen remarked prior to the performances that synergy and teamwork were essential for success. Lining up on the auditorium stage, Angela Coogan’s class sang “It’s a Snow Day,” followed by David Reilly’s class singing “Santa’s Coming” and Dawn McCardell’s class performing “The Lights.” Cathy Schriver’s students followed with a performance of “Must Be Santa,” while Laura Siniski’s class sang “Hanukkah Medley.” The concert concluded with Katelynn King’s class singing “Snow Music.”

Principal Patricia Castine explained that the first graders worked all of December to learn to be leaders on the stage and in music. “This performance gave the students the confidence to do other things as well,” Ms. Castine said.
