A Pep Rally Study of Leadership Principles and Core Values

Each school year, the C.A. Reinhard presents a fun-filled performance to teach the Bellmore School District’s Leadership Principles and Core Values during an annual pep rally. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Reinhard faculty had to be creative in its deliverance of this annual tradition, employing technology to individually record the characters and to screen the performance in classrooms on Oct. 23.

This year’s original script centered around the “Inside Out” character Sadness, played by Kerriann Sanpietro, who is heartbroken that she cannot visit Reinhard due to the new rules driven by the pandemic. Sadness calls her Disney character friends to share the sad news and together they decide to employ the Leadership Principles and Core Values to come up with a new solution – record themselves and send the message to Reinhard students.

Music teacher Joanna Rocco recorded the songs associated with the Leadership Principles and Core Values for students to sing along. Prior to the pep rally, the teachers also practiced the Leadership Principle hand signals to incorporate into their classrooms. Leading up to the pep rally, the students celebrated Spirit Week by wearing patriotic colors (Monday), sports jerseys (Tuesday), pajamas (Wednesday), Tie-dye (Thursday) and the District’s colors, blue and white (Friday).

The District thanks the following faculty for a memorable pep rally performance: Julie Amoroso (Mr. Potato Head), Michelle Block (Joy), Allison Burke (Cinderella), Jennifer Comins (Jesse), Kaitlyn Curtin (Anna), Kate King (Ariel), Kristen Peo (Belle), David Reilly (Woody), Kerriann Sanpietro (Sadness), Jamie Schantz (Bo Peep), Debbie Sebbesse (Mary Poppins), Kelsey Strauss (Mrs. Incredible) and Lauren Volpe (Elsa).
