The Charles A. Reinhard Early Childhood Center’s Student Activity Council (SAC) sponsored a Hop-a-Thon to raise money for muscular dystrophy. The Early Childhood Center’s physical education teachers, Kathryn Fay and Elia DeBlasio, organized this awareness program for people with disabilities. Students were introduced to this opportunity and provided with information in their physical education classes to raise their awareness of disabilities. After these introductory sessions, they took home packets describing the Hop-a-Thon and how their parents, relatives and friends could become sponsors.  For three days the students hopped before school and during recess. Approximately 120 students participated in this physical challenge and raised more than $3,100 for this worthwhile cause.
