It was a day of festive collaboration for students at Winthrop Avenue School in the Bellmore School District, who united with fellow students from across New York to join in holiday songs on Dec. 6.

Hosted by the Manhattan School of Music and the New York State Distance Learning Consortium, the interactive holiday carol singalong had students from pre-k through grade 12 participating virtually. Winning Star Leaders gathered in the auditorium and followed along as musicians led several songs, including “Walking in a Winter Wonderland,” “Jingle Bells,” “Frosty the Snowman” and “The Dreidel Song.”  Each participating school also stepped into the spotlight to individually perform a song of their own. The community endeavor reminded Winthrop Avenue students that teamwork is essential, even from a distance.
