Students throughout Winthrop Avenue School in the Bellmore Public School District received surprise visits from Principal Sally Curto, who shared one of her favorite children’s books that represents an important lesson.

Third graders in Dawn McCardell’s class were excited to receive their special visit on Sept. 22. Mrs. Curto sat with the class to read “What the Road Said” by Cleo Wade, which shared the lesson of overcoming fear no matter where students’ paths may lead. Winning Star Leaders were encouraged to lead with kindness and curiosity, and to remember the importance of not giving up. Students then shared their own stories of times they persevered with Mrs. Curto.
