Students at Winthrop Avenue School in the Bellmore Public School District routinely enjoy working with soil, flowers and vegetables as part of the Garden Club.
The club met during recess outside the school for a sunny day on May 8. Parents in the PTA volunteered to assist Winning Star Leaders in planting vegetables and other plants that they will watch grow throughout the spring. Colorful pinwheels were also crafted by students to take home and decorate their own gardens.
