Sixth graders at Shore Road School in the Bellmore Public School District took to the auditorium stage to face off in the annual Spelling Bee on April 5.

It was a tense competition as 12 students each took turns displaying their knowledge of word formations by spelling challenging words. The complexity of the words increased as the competition went on, slowly narrowing down the contestants. The final two remaining were Rateeb Uddin and Iris Su, who skillfully spelt back and forth until Rateeb came out on top after successfully spelling “grandeur” and “chandelier.”
