First and second graders from Reinhard Early Childhood Center in the Bellmore School District showed their early coding skills through a special demonstration at the Feb. 11 board of education meeting.
Using Bee Bots under the guidance of library media specialist Julie Amoroso, Rising Star Leaders were challenged to navigate a small maze that would bring them from home to school and back again. Working cooperatively, students input each step of the way into their respective Bee Bots, creating the instructions needed to complete the path. Each group also had to make sure to stop at a “charging station” before completion. Bee Bots bring an innovative early start to coding to Reinhard’s first and second graders, who continue to develop their coding skills with Hatch! at Winthrop Avenue School and Python at Shore Road School.
