It was a day of action and adventure at Winthrop Avenue School in the Bellmore Public School District on Oct. 27 as students received a special visit from members of the Nassau County Police Department and their crime-fighting friends.
Dressed as Superman, Batman, The Flash, Spider-Man, Captain America and “Star Wars” hero Chewbacca, NCPD members surprised an ecstatic crowd of students who made their excitement heard on the outdoor blacktop. Students, donned in blue and white, reached out for a chance to shake a hero’s hand and say hello. The NCPD Motorcycle Platoon also rolled in to visit, and an armored SWAT vehicle helped transport the costumed crusaders. The heroes encouraged students to always be positive leaders for their peers.
