Before moving up, Winthrop Avenue fourth graders have their fun

The strong bonds between Winthrop Avenue School fourth graders were visible on their end-of-the-year shirts covered in friends’ signatures, which were worn for the annual celebration of Bellmore’s soon-to-be Shore Road Shining Stars.

Fourth grade Winning Star Leaders began the day with an interactive assembly, “The Brain Show,” before taking a group picture on the gymnasium bleachers. Then they filled the gymnasium for a dance party hosted by a DJ, complete with a conga line and the “Cha-Cha Slide.” Equipped with a marker, friends asked one another to leave a lasting memory by signing their Winthrop Avenue shirts. Meanwhile, on the front field, classes faced off in an intense game of rolling dodgeball. The eventful day concluded with cold ices. The event is a school tradition that celebrates students’ many achievements during their time at Winthrop Avenue.
