The Bellmore School District is proud to announce that Board of Education Vice President Janet Goller has been recognized as a Woman of Distinction by New York State Senator Steve Rhoads.
Mrs. Goller, a past president of the board and a lifelong Bellmore resident, has dedicated 31 years to the Bellmore School District as a trustee. For 26 years, she has also represented the district at board of education meetings for the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District. Her work with Bellmore Schools began when her oldest child started kindergarten, soon becoming an active PTA member and later PTA President and PTA Council President. Mrs. Goller was also a founding member and the first president of the Bellmore Elementary Special Education PTA. Mrs. Goller’s leadership has helped shape education in Bellmore Schools, including its Bellmore Stars Character Development Program, which earned the district national recognitions as a Lighthouse District and a member of the League of Innovative Schools.
In addition, Mrs. Goller was recognized for her deep community involvement, which has garnered her awards that include the New York State PTA Honorary Life Distinguished Service Award, the National PTA Life Achievement Award and the Nassau County Women Trailblazers of the New Millenium Award.
“Janet has transformed Bellmore-Merrick into a thriving community where every child has the opportunity to succeed,” said Linda Rhoads, the event’s presenter.
“Janet’s passion for the Bellmore community is unwavering,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Joseph Famularo. “Her tireless dedication to the students of Bellmore Schools has shaped countless Stars into lifelong leaders.”
