Smiles spread from the stage at Winthrop Avenue School

Fourth grade Winning Stars showed their leadership skills on the Winthrop Avenue School stage on Nov. 21 as the chorus performed in a heartfelt Thanksgiving concert.

Dressed in fall colors of red and orange, students filled the stage for cheerful songs that dedicated to celebrating gratitude and appreciating the world around us, while also taking time to recognize the importance of being thankful for ourselves. As families arrived, two talented students welcomed everyone with piano performances before a small ensemble of string players set a warm, reflective tone with “Ode to Joy” and “What a Wonderful World.” The chorus followed with a moving performance that included “America the Beautiful,” accompanied by music teacher Mrs. Glikos, the joyful “Bright Happy Day,” and “Gratitude Attitude,” during which several students shared solos and spoke about what they were thankful for. The concert concluded with an energetic performance of “Roar” by Katy Perry, leaving the audience inspired and uplifted.

It was a memorable morning filled with music, appreciation, and community spirit – a perfect start to the season of thanks.
