Bellmore’s Shore Road Shining Stars Leaders helped their younger peers on Nov. 26, as fifth graders visited the Reinhard Early Childhood Center for a Thanksgiving activity.
Students from Mrs. Osterhoudt’s class at Shore Road made their way to Mrs. Burke’s classroom at Reinhard, where they were paired with pre-kindergartners. Fifth graders came prepared with materials to host a Thanksgiving-themed crafting activity. Shining Star Leaders introduced themselves and learned about their new friends before helping them spell out their name. Using scissors and glue, fifth graders helped to assemble crowns resembling turkeys, complete with beaks and feathers. After completing their headwear, pairs gathered on the carpet as the older peers read aloud a Thanksgiving story. The students of Mrs. Osterhoudt’s class will return to Reinhard for more student-led events.
