Several graduates of Shore Road School in the Bellmore School District returned on Dec. 16 during the board of education work session to discuss how their time in elementary school shaped their current experience as middle schoolers.
Ten former Shining Star Leaders gathered in front of trustees to share how Bellmore Schools prepared them for success, giving thoughtful replies to several questions. The graduates shed light on how Bellmore’s Character Development Program – which includes Core Values like dedication and integrity and Leadership Principles such as, “Think win-win” – has influenced their current educational careers. They discussed the confidence they have in their leadership skills and their ability to blend into their school communities by joining various clubs and sports teams. In specific subject areas, graduates shared how Bellmore’s innovative practices in the classroom gave them a leg-up in adapting to advanced material. The graduates gave valuable feedback to trustees and administrators who will continue to shape educational practices to meet the needs of all students.
