Sporting the colors and logos of different colleges and universities, Shore Road School sixth graders in the Bellmore School District faced off on Feb. 12 and 13 for the highly anticipated College Olympics event.

Sixth grade classes were divided into teams that represented educational institutions that included Syracuse University, Ohio State University and the University of Maryland. On the first day, teams presented intricate banners and performed original songs in hopes of receiving a high score from judges. The competition continued on the court, as teams competed in rounds of timed basketball shooting, a fitness relay and volleyball. From the sidelines, bleachers were filled with team colors as teammates cheered in support. The exciting event reminds Shining Star Leaders the importance of collaboration and teamwork.
