Holocaust survivor Marion Lazan speaks to Shore Road students

Sixth grade students at Shore Road School in the Bellmore School District had the unique opportunity to hear firsthand testimony from a Holocaust survivor and author who shared personal experiences of resilience, courage and hope on May 28.

Sixth grade classes gathered in the auditorium as Marion Blumenthal Lazan, author of “Four Perfect Pebbles,” recounted her traumatic survival through atrocities during the Holocaust, emphasizing the importance of kindness, acceptance and standing up against hatred and intolerance. Students were engaged throughout the presentation and asked thoughtful questions. The visit connected directly to students’ social studies and literacy learning, helping bring history to life in a meaningful and memorable way. The powerful experience left a lasting impact on students and reinforced the value of learning from those who lived through significant moments in history.
