Nerves and excitement swirled among parents and students as pre-kindergartners through second graders in the Bellmore School District arrived for the first day of school at the Reinhard Early Childhood Center on Sept. 1.

Families were greeted with bright smiles from teachers and staff, who helped newcomers get situated to a new environment. Essential materials carried in backpacks were unloaded and organized in students’ new assigned desks. In the auditorium, Rising Star Leaders gathered to make their excitement heard as teachers and staff shared a glimpse of the year ahead. As the year continues, Rising Star Leaders will explore a range of leadership opportunities while practicing the district’s Core Values, such as respect, teamwork and dedication.
