Students from Shore Road School in the Bellmore School District offered board of education trustees a glimpse at their microscope investigation unit ahead of the monthly meeting on Oct. 20.
Trustees, administrators, teachers and parents gathered in the Winthrop Avenue School Star Lab for sixth graders’ impressive presentation. Students confidently stood at the front of the room to explain their recent exploration of the exciting equipment. Students learned about each part of the microscope and brought in items from home or outdoors to examine under different magnifications. Leading their own demonstrations, students showed trustees how changing the magnification can reveal finer details that are difficult to see with the naked eye. Following the demonstration, each Shining Star Leader shared their favorite part about learning how to use a microscope.
