Students at Winthrop Avenue School in the Bellmore School District are regularly transported to out-of-this-world locations in the Star Lab, an all-purpose media center found in the building. Recently, students have shown their leadership with a project that spans the globe.

The Star Lab is a space for innovative lessons using exciting, state-of-the-art educational technology. For instance, students experience constellations and our solar system in a projected display that fills the room, sparking inspiration and wonder about our universe. During other lessons, students practice their coding with robotics. Recently, third graders have utilized green screen technology to create videos that tour the world. Students dress up and stand in front of the green screen to act as tour guides for countries that include Australia, China, and France.
