Shore Road Shining Stars Leaders helped their younger peers when fifth graders visited the Reinhard Early Childhood Center for a Thanksgiving activity! Mr. Merz’s fourth grade class at Winthrop Avenue worked with Mrs. Falabella to create a virtual “Balloons Over Broadway.” Students were asked to choose a character from the Balloon Lineup of the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Using the Sprite Editor App in the Kidoyo Coding platform, students created their own pixel art design of the character they chose. #ignitethestarswithin #starsleadandlearn
Pyramids hold the secret to key facts about countries across the globe at Shore Road School as sixth graders’ creative projects take viewers beyond our borders. Students selected one country to represent, such as Norway, Spain or Sweden, to create a pyramid-shaped project that feels like a step into their country of choice. #ignitethestarswithin #starsleadandlearn

As we all take a moment today to reflect on what we are grateful for, I want to share how deeply grateful I am for our entire Bellmore community. Our students truly are Bellmore Stars, and I am deeply grateful for the way our students learn with such curiosity and begin to discover what it means to lead in their own unique ways. They inspire me every single day and are truly the shining center of all we do.
I am equally grateful for our remarkable staff, who bring our mission to life by leading our students outward with care, character, and unwavering commitment. And I am grateful for our families, whose support helps us live our shared vision of "A Community of Learners" where every child shines.
Thank you for the trust you place in us and for the partnership that makes Bellmore such a special place.

Third and fourth graders at Winthrop Avenue School experienced an exciting introduction to the Star Lab! The Winning Star Leaders played a “Would you rather?” icebreaker spinner activity and used teamwork to solve a Halloween-themed memory game. Kindergarten classes throughout Reinhard Early Childhood Center in the Bellmore School District have been visiting their local firefighters at the Bellmore Firehouse throughout the month of October. Former chief Tom Stoerger shared important fire safety tips, such as listening to a fire alarm, staying low to the ground when there’s smoke and checking a door to see if it’s hot.

“Ooky Spooky Animals” presented by the Rosamond Gifford Zoo featured animal experts who answered the questions of curious Winning Star Leaders.
One breath at a time, Shore Road’s Shining Star Leaders cleared their minds to mark Health and Safety Week from Oct. 20-24. In Mrs. Neu’s sixth grade class, peers practiced mindful breathing exercises, using their finger to trace different shapes like stars, triangles and an infinity symbol. Students breathed in, held their breath and slowly released, finding which method works best for them. #IgnitetheStarsWithin #StarsLeadandLearn
At this month’s board meeting, Winthrop’s Aquarium Leaders explained their daily tasks in taking care of the school’s fish. Each morning, they carefully observe the tank and keep records of the number of fish and the water temperature, track the tank’s cleanliness and feed the fish. When it’s time for a new group of students to take up the role, the current Aquarium Leaders train the incoming team! #IgnitetheStarsWithin #StarsLeadandLearn
The teachers of Reinhard Early Childhood Center took on the roles of SpongeBob and friends for the annual Pep Rally, much to the excitement of the building’s students!
“SpongeBob and the Leadership Adventure” – an original story crafted and scripted by Reinhard teachers – followed the residents of “Reinhard Bottom” as they joined together to recover King Neptune’s crown and the Special Leadership Star, which were stolen by Plankton. Along the journey, the characters learned lessons related to Bellmore’s Core Values and Leadership Principles, such as respect, dedication, being proactive and thinking win-win. Throughout the show, students in the audience participated by singing songs led by music teacher Joanna Rocco. #StarsLeadandLearn #IgnitetheStars

Winning Star students at Winthrop Avenue School are collaborating on a meaningful legacy project titled “Ignite the Stars Within.” Guided by ceramic artist Cathy Russell, each student is crafting a unique clay piece that will become part of a larger, collective work of wall art. Inspired by the vibrant style of renowned artist Romero Britto, the final piece will incorporate our Core Values and feature symbolic shapes such as stars, circles and hearts - a celebration of creativity, synergy and the light within every student. #IgnitetheStarsWithin #StarsLeadandLearn
