Shore Road School students heard important safety tips for online activity from a retired Nassau County Police Department officer as part of Health and Safety Week from Oct. 16 to 20.

Officer Sharon Galvin, who served as an NCPD officer for more than 30 years, spoke to Shining Star Leaders in the auditorium on Oct. 18. She emphasized the potential dangers of social media usage and encouraged students to always project kindness and positivity and act against bullying. Officer Galvin’s visit was sponsored by the Bellmore-Merrick Community Parent Center and was one of the many events scheduled for Health and Safety Week. Throughout the week, students also enjoyed yoga and ate healthy snacks.
